江西省新余市被誉为“中国夏布之乡”，苎麻夏布是江西特产，夏布绣是以中国夏布为绣地、以材质命名的绣种，历史悠久，是中国二十八绣种之一，目前已成为江西省非物质文化遗产。夏布绣博物馆由渝洲绣坊公司投资建设，夏布绣艺术家张小红任馆长，建筑面积650平方米。馆区主要分为夏布绣艺术精品区、张小红工作室、夏布绣研究所、夏布绣传习所等区位。夏布绣博物馆藏品达1050件（套），其中江西民间刺绣文物类1000件；艺术刺绣100多件。开馆后将免费向广大市民开放。
