大圩镇宝镜村古民居是至今保存完好的已有300多年历史的瑶族古民居建筑群。建筑群为砖木结构，以青石、青砖、青瓦建成。院内屋舍整齐，雕梁画栋，幽静深远，建筑结构严谨，是开发古民居旅游观光及互动农家乐休闲的理想之地。曾应明一行实地参观了宝镜古民居的九井十八厅，对宝镜古民居深厚的文化底蕴、风格独特的建筑、规模宏大的院落大为赞赏。曾应明表示，从这些残存的房屋及结构中，仍可见其当年的豪华程度和精美的工艺，希望相关部门要积极发掘和弘扬民族传统文化，唤醒公众对“古民居、老手艺”的自觉保护意识，保存“古民居、老手艺”的历史、艺术、科学和旅游价值；积极倡导全社会在推进新农村建设中，科学吸纳和保护民族传统文化，让优秀民俗文化和传统工艺在现代化建设中得到凸显、代代相传。
