2014年4月11日，湖南省文联副主席，省民协主席曾应明，前往岳阳市文化艺术品展览中心参加长沙市，岳阳市两地民间文艺家协会召开的艺术品交流展览。出席这次展会的领导有岳阳市委常委，市委宣传部长徐新启。长沙市文联党组书记王俏，长沙市文联主席何立伟，以及长沙市民协，岳阳市民协的艺术家。
曾应明主席认为这次展览会参展的艺术品门类广，展示的作品多，艺术家参与积极。代表了长沙。岳阳两地的民间文化艺术水平。为引导全省更多的艺术家参加民间文化交流活动起到了抛砖引玉的作用。交货省民协还将陆续在全省其它地，州，市，开展这样的交流活动。
曾应明主席还在会上提出将在全省，各地，州，市开展首届寻找湖南最美“三古一老”民俗文化活动。明确指示古镇、古村落、古民居、老手艺是我国民间传统文化的集中体现。“三古”鲜明地折射出其悠久的历史和民族文化的传统，它集人文、历史、建筑、民俗多种文化于一体，具有很高的历史、艺术、科学和旅游价值。而传统老手艺，虽然离我们的生活越来越远，但作为曾服务于一个时代的传统行业，其历史价值不容忽视。为弘扬传统民族文化，促进对湖南“三古一老”的保护，从而推进文化强省，通过开展这个活动，促使全社会关注“三古一老”的发掘、传承、和发展，唤醒公众对古镇、古村落、古民居的自觉保护意识。
